You can begin the setup process when you have a live broadband cable connection already set up in your home. Contact your cable broadband service provider if it is not yet set up. Now follow the instructions discussed below:

- Run an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port of the modem to the Ethernet port on the computer to connect to its internet. The port is available at the rear side of the modem.
- Now, plug the power cord of the modem into an electrical wall outlet. Check that the other end of the cord is well inserted into the modem.
- The Power, Send, Receive and Online LEDs at the front of the modem will flash. Let the LEDs turn solid green or white.
- If Receive and Send LEDs continue to flash, this implies a firmware update is going on. Wait till the lights turn solid.
- The modem should automatically connect to the broadband connection and should be activated.
- Run an internet browser and insert any valid URL to test the network connection.
