Arris G36 Setup: Complete Instructions
The Surfboard G36 is a combo of modem and router with Wi-Fi. This will provide optimum speed for internet access in your premises. Using Wi‑Fi cable modem, you can connect your computer and other network-enabled devices using the Ethernet ports or via wireless connections. There are variant methods to configure the Arris G36 Setup, as per below illustrated details:
Arris G36 Setup using Wi-Fi network
- To start with, check one end of coaxial cable is connected with power outlet and other with cable connector on the back of your G36. Make sure the connection is firm enough for appropriate power supply.
- Now, connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port provided at the back of G36 and other end with the Ethernet port of your computer.
- Connect one end of power cord with the power port; it can be located at the back of your G36.Putpower cord’s other end into an electrical wall outlet.
- This will automatically powers ON your G36, in about 15 second Power LED will lit up confirms that it is connected.
- Switch on the power on your computer as well and then perform Arris login
- You can activate your G36 by entering HFC MAC ID provided on the modem label.
- Now, open a web browser, click at www.surboard.com or type a valid URL and press Enter.
- Once the power LED on the front panel lights up in sequential order, this confirms that Arris G36 setup is done.

Learn to add devices to your home Wi-Fi network
To connect your device quickly with home networkyou need to have information about WiFi Network name (SSID) and Network Password. There are basically two ways as given below:
- Using Window Task Bar
- Using Windows Control Panel
Connect using Windows Task Bar:
- From the Windows taskbar on your computer, click the Wi-Fi Link icon to open the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
- Look for G36 WiFi network name or you can also find default SSID at the bottom of G36.
- You can alter the SSID after the network connections are set up and running smoothly.
- You can connect automatically to set up your device with the WiFi network without the need for Login.
- Then click Connect, and enter the network security key in the security field and enter “Next” to establish the connection.
Connect using Windows Control Panel:
- From Windows taskbar on your computer, click Start and then Control Panel.
- To open the windows enter Network and Sharing Center, once you scroll down networking settings click on setup a new connection.
- You have to select choose manually connect to a wireless network and enter next.
- First of all enter G36 WiFi network name and security password in the security key field.
- This enables automatic connection so that your Wi-Fi devices will connect to your WiFi network when they are powered on.
- Click Next to complete the WiFi network setup and later Close to exit.
